What is your favourite style of yoga?
I have a few favourite styles of yoga!
I love Vinyasa on the days i’m feeling stagnant and stuck..
I love Hatha and Yin when I need some grounding.
I also love to practice pranayama (breathing exercises) and I try to incorporate them into my classes often.
I also love to just sit and observe my breath and allow everything to settle.
How has Yoga Impacted your life?
Yoga has impacted my life in many beautiful ways. It has given me increased physical strength and flexibility and body awareness. But most importantly, a regular practice has given me a sense of peace and centeredness that I carry with me (most of the time! – I am human after all!).
Before establishing a regular practice in 2009, I was quite an anxious person. My nature is quite Vata- I am quick natured and have a very active and analytical mind. My yoga practice helped, and still helps, to ground me and bring some calm to my often over active mind.
It makes me smile when people say they can’t meditate because their mind is too active.. this is me too! This is why you meditate and practice yoga. The people with the more active minds are the people that will benefit most profoundly from establishing a regular practice.
What do you hope to share in your teachings?
My aim is to show how accessible yoga is.
ANYBODY can do yoga, as long as you have a body, and you can breathe!
That is really all that you need.
It’s not about how flexible you are, or about getting your leg over your head.
It’s about feeling and exploring your body, developing awareness and coming back to the present moment.
I hope people leave my classes with a sense of calm that they take with them for the rest of the day. And that they leave feeling a whole lot better than when they arrived!

What is your favourite style of yoga?
Definitely vinyasa- it’s a more playful form of traditional ashtanga, where the key poses are sequenced to really flow. I love that the flow allows you to build knowledge and alignment of a pose through repetition, and where you can switch your mind off as your body and breath finds its rhythm.
How has Yoga Impacted your life?
Yoga has impacted my life in so many ways. After 25+ years of dancing and dance teaching, my body was so sore and misaligned. I first found yoga through power yoga- it would give me the same ‘work out’ that I craved but the opening of benefits to my mind, breath and spirit was life changing.
I became less anxious, felt much more grounded and slept better after practice. I’m now a massive advocate for yoga for everyone- the connection to breath, body, mind and spirit is something so special.
What do you hope to share in your teachings?
I hope to share self-acceptance of our bodies in every class. We’re all so different- our bodies move in different ways and have different needs. The amount of times I’ve heard “I’m too fat/old/weak/inflexible” is all too often. I want to remind people that this is not the case! I hope that during my classes yogis can speak kindly about their bodies, find a space of self-acceptance and really honour their bodies needs, swapping the “I can’t” with “I listen to and trust my body”.

What is your favourite style of yoga?
My favourite styles of yoga are Vinyasa flow and Yin, I love the strength and fluidity of a vinyasa practice and Yin is a beautiful, potent practice that is super nourishing for the body and helps me to connect to myself on a deeper level.
How has Yoga Impacted your life?
Yoga has totally changed my life, from the people I interact with to the thoughts that I think, it has opened up a world of healing and deep knowing that I could only access through the practice.
What do you hope to share in your teachings?
Through my teachings, I hope to share tools to connect with the self on a deeper level, to connect you to who you are and to create a deep acceptance and love for your body and where you are at. I want to share with you the beauty that is the practice of yoga, connection to yourself and all things, an understanding that we are not separate.
